The Scriptures speak a great deal about our need for spiritual authority (e.g. Hebrews 13:7, 13:17, 1 Thessalonians 5:10-12). Unlike our culture that views authority with the limiting of our “freedom”, the New Testament sees it as a primary means for our freedom.
The New Testament writings of Paul considered a believer’s incorporation into a local church community as indispensable to spiritual maturing and discipleship. In fact, removing a person from “membership” in a local church family was Paul’s ultimate means of church discipline.
Moreover, God has created us in such a way that we need the guidance and stability that only a larger community and the spiritual authority of leadership within a local church can provide.
Being part of a family and community will help you to remain faithful when bad weather, fatigue and disappointments come your way. The issue of stability rather than jumping from family to family is a critical discipleship issue.
Anyone who is considering New Life Fellowship as their church and has been attending for at least 3 months.
